The Sarvodaya Samiti is a non-government, non-political & non-profit making organization committed for the development of tribal, rural and other underprivileged classes of the Society. The Samiti was formed by some eminent freedom fighters and dedicated social workers during the Bhoodan and Gramadan movement initiated by Acharya Binoba Bhave during 1959. The Sarvodaya Samiti was earlier known as Narayanpatna Khetra Samiti, started its operation in Koraput and Kalahandi districts of Orissa. The Samiti was registered under Societies Registration Act in the year 1970-71

The Sarvodaya Samiti is registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 bearing the Registration No. 5883/83 of 19970-71 and Registered under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) of 1976 No.105060002 of Government of India. The Samiti is Certified by the Khadi & Village Industries Commission, Bombay, Government of India and affiliated to the Bharatiya Adimajati Sevak Sangh, New Delhi. The area of operation of the Samiti is throughout.
